Xfce 4 lock screen not working, Linux Fedora Ubuntu

Monday, July 9, 2007

I got this stupid problem on my fedora box, I was just not able to lock my screen on xfce 4.
There's a simple solution to this, Follow these steps.

1) Become root with su.
2) Create a file named xlock.
vi /usr/bin/vlock
3) Enter this in the file.
kdesktop_lock --forcelock
4) Give permissions to xlock.
chmod 755 /usr/bin/xlock
4) Add Logout menu to your panel and it will start working.

This might have been a solution back in July 2007...
But today with a fresh install of Fedora 10 and the XFCE desktop I found that I had to install "xlockmore" with the following:-

# yum -y install xlockmore

Cheers,
